Dr. P. H. Chang was appointed
as Vice President of Materials Management and Risk Management in TSMC
in August 2009, after serving as Vice President of Human Resources in
TSMC for five and a half years.
Dr. Chang joined TSMC as a result of the merger
between TSMC and Worldwide Semiconductor Manufacturing Company in July,
2000 and served as Director and later on Senior Director of Materials
Management. Prior to the merger, from 1998 to 2000, he was Vice President
of Administration at WSMC, responsible for Human Resources, Procurement,
and Facilities Management. From 1984 to 1990 and later on from 1996 to
1998 He worked for Texas Instruments as a Member of Technical Staff and
Deputy Process Engineering Manager, respectively. In the interim years,
from 1991 to 1996, he was a Professor of Materials Science and Engineering
at National Chiao Tung University at Hsinchu, Taiwan.
From 1981 to 1984, he was a Research
Engineer at Inland Steel Company, East Chicago, IN,
developing high strength sheet steel products for automobile
applications and tubular steel products for oil industry
applications.
Dr. Chang received his Ph.D. and M.S.
degrees in Materials Engineering from Purdue University,
W. Laffayette, IN, in 1981 and 1977, respectively, and
a Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering from Taipei Institute
of Technology, Taipei, Taiwan in 1972. |
