TSMC Named DJSI Industry Group Leader for Second Straight Year

Hsinchu, Taiwan – Sept 12, 2014 – TSMC today announced that it has been named Semiconductors and Semiconductor Equipment Industry Group Leader by the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for a second consecutive year, once again affirming the company’s commitment to social responsibility. TSMC was the first Taiwan company to achieve the highest overall score out of its industry peers in the DJSI’s 24 industry groups, made up of 59 industries, and is also one of just five Asian companies to be named Industry Group Leader in 2014.

The DJSI World Index tracks the 2,500 largest companies in the world and selects the top performers from each industry in terms of economic, environmental, and social sustainability as the index’s components. In 2014, 319 corporations were selected as DJSI World Index components. In addition to being selected as Industry Group Leader in 2014 and 2013, TSMC was named semiconductor industry leader in 2012 and 2010.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices
The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices were launched in 1999 as the first global sustainability benchmarks. The indices are offered cooperatively by RobecoSAM and S&P Dow Jones Indices. The family tracks the stock performance of the world's leading companies in terms of economic, environmental and social criteria. The indices serve as benchmarks for investors who integrate sustainability considerations into their portfolios, and provide an effective engagement platform for companies who want to adopt sustainable best practices.
