San Jose, Calif., April 16, 2001 - Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd. (TSMC; NYSE: TSM), today announced that they have entered an agreement with CreOsys, Inc., leading provider of Web-based communication infrastructure for the global engineering industry, adopting CreOsys’ next-generation interactive design communication technology to deliver the complete Web-based engineering collaboration solution.
TSMC is the first semiconductor foundry to adopt CreOsys SpaceCruiser; a new interactive design communication tool that brings distributed teams together independent of distance and time zone. TSMC recently integrated SpaceCruiser with its Internet Layout Viewer, an Internet-based design and collaboration service.
“Our Internet Layout Viewer got a whole lot better when we implemented CreOsys’ next generation interactive design communication technology,” said Dr. Fred Wang, Director of Design Service at TSMC “We are utilizing SpaceCruiser throughout our Design Service organization to facilitate both internal and external design communication with our worldwide customers. We find SpaceCruiser especially useful and effective for sharing data and collaborating real-time between customers’ and our engineering people regardless of their physical locations.
"SpaceCruiser enables real-time desktop application sharing through the Internet which allows design engineers to collaborate anywhere, anytime with either the SpaceCruiser client program or through browsers,” said Kuochun Lee, president and CEO of CreOsys, Inc. “With SpaceCruiser, TSMC is able to speed up the design service process, helping its customers save countless weeks and capital in dollars while delivering fast, secure and cost-effective high-quality products.”
SpaceCruiser, an application within the CreOweb system, enables Web-based, real-time, desktop application sharing. Designers can collaborate anywhere, anytime with a simple browser.
