MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., January 6, 2003 -- Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Ltd. [(TSMC) (TAIEX: 2330, NYSE: TSM)], and Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq:SNPS), the technology leader in complex integrated circuit (IC) design, today have announced a collaboration ensuring that TSMC’s internally developed Nexsys(SM) 90 nanometer (nm) libraries are fully compatible with Synopsys’ RTL to GDSII flow.
"By collaborating with Synopsys, TSMC has had access to a team of experts who helped validate our libraries to meet the requirements of our mutual customers,” said Genda Hu, vice president of Corporate Marketing at TSMC. “The support and commitment from Synopsys during development assures designers that TSMC’s Nexsys 90nm libraries are ready to deploy in Synopsys’ design flow.”
TSMC Nexsys 90nm libraries support all Synopsys views used in the design flow, including: .lib, with noise modeling capabilities; .db; .plib; .pdb; Apollo™; Astro™, and the Synopsys Milkyway™ design database. This integration was achieved using Synopsys’ Liberty™ open standard library spec and Milkyway.
“Great design flows are based on advanced libraries and industry-proven tools,” said Sanjiv Kaul, senior vice president and general manager of Corporate Applications and Marketing at Synopsys, Inc. “Synopsys’ research and development teams have worked closely with TSMC to ensure that its Nexsys 90nm library works well with Synopsys’ design platform. We look forward to continuing our relationship with TSMC as a technology partner to develop tools, flows and libraries to offer our mutual customers the best design results.”
