Hsinchu, Taiwan, R.O.C. – December 4, 2009 – TSMC held its ninth annual Supply Chain Management Forum today to recognize the support and outstanding contributions of its supplier partners over the past year and to award 10 outstanding materials and equipment suppliers.
The theme of the forum was “Thriving amid Economic Uncertainties”, and in the keynote address, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Morris Chang said: “Technology leadership, manufacturing excellence, and customer partnership are TSMC’s trinity of strengths, and are the keys to TSMC’s growth throughout the economic cycle. TSMC’s success comes from the success of its customers and its supplier partners, and as an important member of the semiconductor industry, TSMC hopes to continue growth stronger with its supplier partners and create mutual success.”
TSMC also invited HP Senior Vice President Mr. Tony Prophet to speak on “Operational Excellence: Charting the Course to Global Leadership” and share insights into HP’s achievements in supply chain management.
In addition, the forum also included breakout sessions on supply chain cooperation in development of 15nm process technology, case studies of successful collaboration between TSMC and suppliers, creating sustainable and mutually beneficial supplier partnerships, measuring supplier performance, supply chain carbon footprint management, as well as facility and IT systems power conservation. Some 410 suppliers from around the world in the fields of equipment, materials, packaging, testing, facilities, IT systems and services, export/import services, and environmental and waste management services participated in the forum.

TSMC also recognized suppliers with outstanding overall performance with its annual supplier awards, and also gave special appreciation to suppliers that continued to make special contributions to delivery and technology cooperation during the economic downturn.
