Hsinch, Taiwan, November 9, 2000– Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd. (“ TSMC” or “ the Company” ) (TAIEX: 2330, NYSE: TSM) today announced that its net sales for October 2000 reached a new high of NT$17,462 million, representing an increase of approximately 6.5% over September 2000 sales.
Ms. K. C. Chen, TSMC spokesperson, stated that since demand still outpaces supply in the global semiconductor market, the Company continues to aggressively expand its capacity. Meanwhile, the Company’s capacity utilization rate has been full for the past several months. Net sales for October 2000 once again reached a record high of NT$17,462 million, representing an increase of 142.1% over the same period one year ago. The Company’s sales revenue from January through October 2000 totaled NT$129,868 million, representing an increase of 129.2% over the corresponding period of 1999.
