Global shutter, high dynamic range (HDR), near infrared (NIR) sensitivity and distance sensing are critical for autonomous vehicles to safely navigate in all weather and ambient conditions.

TSMC's CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) technology enables high resolution, global shutter, and HDR sensors required in fully autonomous vehicles. The CIS portfolio also includes NIR+ technology that enhances sensor sensitivity and extends sensing wavelength from visible light to NIR light (longer wavelength). The high quantum efficiency (QE) from NIR+ technology enhances vehicle night vision and makes LiDAR sensor feasible.
